Do Not Use Yixuesheng for Leukemia
The medications prescribed by hospital physicians should not be replaced with Chinese herbs or traditional Chinese patent medicines based solely on Western medical theory. The holistic view and syndrome differentiation are the essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Without such theoretical foundation, patient outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Generally known principle: "heat conditions treated with cold, cold conditions treated with warmth" is well understood by every clinical TCM practitioner. Clinical observation shows most patients exhibit symptoms like hot palms and soles, fatigue, spontaneous sweating—diagnosed in TCM as yin deficiency with fire excess or qi-yin deficiency. Therefore, treatment should focus on nourishing yin, reducing fire, tonifying qi, and enriching blood. However, some hospital physicians prescribe patent medicines like Yixuesheng, which causes patients to feel increased fever, pain, and high temperature. Upon analysis, this medicine contains ingredients such as deer antler, deer blood, placenta, and astragalus—all warm-natured substances. This approach is akin to adding fuel to fire, leading patients down a therapeutic wrong path. Both theoretically and practically, this has been confirmed. Relying merely on the name of the medicine without analyzing its components completely abandons TCM principles, plunging patients deeper into suffering. We advocate integrated TCM-Western medicine treatment, but only when one truly understands the principles and strives toward goals of good efficacy, low cost, and minimal discomfort. We recommend that patients inform us precisely about what medicines they intend to use, so we can analyze their components and offer sound, objective treatment advice for reference.
