Several Folk Remedies for Habitual Constipation
20g Astragalus, 20g Ligustrum, 9g Platycodon, 6g Glycyrrhiza, 6g Cinnamon twig, 15g Paeonia, 15g Angelica, 12 jujubes, 3 slices of ginger. Appropriate amount of maltose.
One dose daily, decocted and taken orally. One course lasts 10 days; generally 1–2 courses are needed.
Benefits: Tonifies qi and yang, nourishes blood, promotes bowel movement.
20g Fried Glycyrrhiza, 60g Coix seed, 30g White Atractylodes, 20g Polygonatum, 15 jujubes. Decocted and taken orally, 150ml twice daily in the morning and evening. Discontinue other Chinese and Western medicines during treatment. One course lasts one month.
Benefits: Nourishes spleen yin, moistens intestines, promotes bowel movement.
9g Rhubarb, 9g Stir-fried Citrus aurantium, 9g Stir-fried Shenqu, 6g Poria, 6g Huangqin, 6g Huanglian, 6g White Atractylodes. All ingredients ground into fine powder, mixed with decoction of steamed bread cake to form pills. Take 1–2 times daily, 3–6g each time.
