External Treatment for Acute Phase
(1) In early stage, only erythematous rashes and papulovesicles present without exudation: apply Qushī Powder or talcum powder 30g, calcite powder 10g, camphor 2g, mix well, sprinkle frequently throughout the day. If slight exudation occurs, apply Sanhuang Wash externally, 5–6 times daily.
(2) For extensive erosion, blisters, and exudation: boil Portulaca 60g in 2000–3000ml water for 15–20 minutes, cool, then apply wet dressing. Alternatively, boil Phellodendron and raw Sanguisorba each 30g in 2000ml water for 15–20 minutes, cool, then apply wet dressing. Also suitable: decoct dandelion, Gentiana, and Chrysanthemum each 20g, cool, then apply wet dressing.
(3) When erosion, blisters, and crusting occur: apply Coptis ointment or Qingdai Powder mixed with sesame oil, 3 times daily. Or mix Qushī Powder or Sanmiao Powder with plant oil or licorice oil, apply externally, 2–3 times daily.
