Formula Name: Longdan Qinlian Decoction
【Function & Indication】Clear heat and detoxify. Treat multiple external hordeolum.
【Prescription Composition】Gentiana scabra 6g, Coptis chinensis 3g, Scutellaria baicalensis 6g, Aurantii Pericarpium 3–4.5g, Licorice root 3g, decoct and take orally.
【Differential Treatment】If spleen fails to function properly, add Erchen Tang, Magnolia officinalis, Atractylodes macrocephala; if wind-fire is excessive, add honeysuckle 9g, trichosanthes root 6g, gardenia 4.5g, anemarrhena 4.5g; if yin deficiency with fire exuberance, use Liuwei Dihuang Tang plus honeysuckle, bupleurum, schisandra, raw licorice, angelica; if liver qi invades spleen and stomach, use Xiao Yao San with modifications.
【Clinical Efficacy】Treated 272 cases, followed up 170 cases, 11 relapsed, others cured. Recurrence cure rate reached 93.53%.

【Comment】This condition tends to recur; the formula remains effective in curing recurrences, indicating that recurrence can be controlled by traditional Chinese medicine. In addition to oral intake, residual heat from the medicinal residue should be used for eye fumigation.
