Cold accumulates and binds in the uterine gate, injuring meridians, forming solid masses above, causing vomiting of phlegm and saliva, eventually developing into lung abscess, wasting away the body. In the middle, it forms cold hernia around the navel. Or causes pain in both flanks connected to internal organs. Or forms heat accumulation internally, pain centered at Guanyuan, with rapid pulse but no sores, skin resembling fish scales, sometimes affecting men, not limited to women. Below, it is not severe, menstruation irregular. Causes pulling pain in the lower abdomen, cold sensation in the lower back; may radiate to waist and spine, down to the inguinal region, sudden sharp pain in the groin, knee and calf pain and restlessness, sudden dizziness and fainting, resembling syncope or epilepsy. Or feelings of sorrow, sadness, frequent anger—these are all types of leukorrhea, not due to spirits or gods. If prolonged, leads to emaciation, weak pulse, and cold constitution.
Thirty-six diseases, countless variations. Carefully examine the pulse—whether yin or yang, whether deficient or full, tight or string-like. Apply acupuncture and herbal medicine accordingly to turn critical situations into safety. Although diseases may appear similar, their underlying causes differ. You must distinguish and remember this; do not dismiss it as untrue.
