Formula for Endometriosis – Ke Tong Tang
Name of Formula: Ke Tong Tang
【Function and Indications】
Function: Resolve stasis and relieve pain. Indicated for extrinsic endometriosis presenting with dysmenorrhea, rectal pressure, infertility, painful intercourse, and palpable nodules on posterior cervical fornix during gynecological examination.
【Prescription Composition】
Radix Codonopsis 15g, Radix Paeoniae Rubra 12g, Rhizoma Chuanxiong 12g, Sanqi powder 2g (taken separately), decoct and take orally. First month: one dose daily; after one month, reduce to every other day. One course lasts three months.
【Differential Diagnosis and Modifications】
Add Amber powder 1g (taken separately) during menstruation; add Polygonatum sibiricum 10g after menstruation. Add Curcuma zedoaria 10g and Rhizoma Sparganii 10g during non-menstrual periods.
【Clinical Efficacy】
Applied to 11 cases: 4 cured (nodules on posterior uterine wall and subjective symptoms disappeared), 6 markedly improved (nodules reduced in size, subjective symptoms disappeared), 1 improved (nodules unchanged in shape but softer, symptoms alleviated).
