One, Commonly Used Chinese Patent Medicines
1. Guhan Yangshengjing produced by Hengyang Guhan Group, Hunan: composed of Astragalus membranaceus, Lycium barbarum, Polygonatum sibiricum, Epimedium sagittatum, and twelve other herbs. It tonifies the kidney and qi, nourishes yin and strengthens yang, used for dizziness, tinnitus, premature ejaculation, impotence, soreness in waist and knees, frequent nocturnal urination, residual urine after micturition. Oral administration: 1 vial (10 ml) each time, 2–3 times daily, on an empty stomach in morning and evening.
2. Yangchun Tezhi Pill produced by Huaihai Pharmaceutical Factory, Xuzhou Enhua Pharmaceutical Group: Cuscuta chinensis, processed Fo-ti, Lycium barbarum, Epimedium sagittatum, Yangqishi, Rehmannia glutinosa (prepared), Astragalus membranaceus, Cistanche tubulosa, Water deer penis, Deer antler, Sheep penis gel, Guang Gou Shen gel. It tonifies the kidney and fills essence, warms and supplements kidney yang, used for premature ejaculation and impotence due to kidney deficiency. Take 2 pills twice daily.
3. Jin Suo Gu Jing Wan: Composition and function refer to previous section. Used for premature ejaculation due to failure of essence retention. Take 15 concentrated pills twice daily.
4. Da Bu Yin Wan: Prepared Rehmannia glutinosa, turtle shell, Phellodendron amurense, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, pig spinal marrow.
Function and usage: Nourish yin and clear fire. Used for premature ejaculation caused by kidney yin deficiency and excessive kidney fire. Take 1 pill twice daily.
5. Gui Pi Wan: Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, Astragalus membranaceus, longan flesh, Ziziphus jujuba seed, Codonopsis pilosula, Aquilaria agallochum, Glycyrrhiza, Angelica sinensis, Polygala tenuifolia, ginger, jujube.
Function and usage: Tonify qi and blood, strengthen spleen and nourish heart. Used for premature ejaculation due to deficiency of heart and spleen. Take 6 g each time, three times daily.
6. Longdan Xiegan Wan: Composition and efficacy see the section on seminal emission. Take 6 g each time, twice daily.
Two, Common Single Herbal Formulas
1. Wu Bei Zi Decoction for Washing: Wu Bei Zi 20 g. Boil gently for half an hour, then add warm water, fumigate and wash genital area while hot for several minutes, then soak glans penis when cooled. Once nightly, one course lasts 15–20 days.
2. He Le Dan: Equal parts of Epimedium sagittatum, Schisandra chinensis, Cuscuta chinensis, Cornus officinalis, Morus alba fruit, He Shou Wu. Grind into fine powder, make into pills with water. Take 3 times daily, 6 g each time, use 3–6 g of white wine as guide, one course lasts 3 weeks; severe cases require 2–3 courses. Avoid sexual activity for half a month at beginning of treatment.
3. Xin Xiang Ding: Clove 20 g, Cinnamon twig 20 g. Soak both herbs in 95% ethanol 100 ml for half a month, filter and extract juice. Apply to glans penis before intercourse, 1–3 minutes, then intercourse can proceed.
4. Jin Suo Gu Xie Tang: Goldenberry 15 g, Euryale ferox 12 g, Calcined Dragon Bone 30 g, Calcined Ostrea 30 g, Lycium barbarum 15 g, Raw Rehmannia glutinosa 12 g, Morinda officinalis 10 g, Yam 12 g, Schisandra chinensis 9 g, Angelica sinensis 12 g, Stir-fried Ziziphus jujuba seed 12 g, Fried Glycyrrhiza 5 g. Decoct and take orally, one dose daily.
5. Qing Re Lian Qi Gu Jing Tang: Cornus officinalis 10 g, Yam 10 g, Euryale ferox 10 g, Dragon bone 15 g, Ostrea 20 g, Anemarrhena asphodeloides 6 g, Moutan cortex 6 g, Phellodendron amurense 6 g, Prince's ginseng 10 g, Schisandra chinensis 5 g, Lotus stamen 6 g, Goldenberry 10 g. Decoct and take orally, one dose daily. One course lasts four weeks. Treated 62 cases of premature ejaculation, effective rate 66.2%.
6. Gu Yang Ye: Compiled by Qin Yunfeng, author of this book, using self-formulated Gu Yang Ye prepared at Xuzhou Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat 47 cases of premature ejaculation: 12 cured, 19 markedly improved, 6 effective, 10 ineffective. The medicine is made by soaking more than ten herbs including Sichuan pepper, dragon bone, cuttlefish bone, cinnamon, cinnamon twig, gallnut, toad venom, clove in 75% alcohol for seven days, filtering and removing residue. Apply to glans penis 10 minutes before intercourse, rinse off with warm water before sex.
