Folk Prescription for Lobar Pneumonia
Disease Description
Lobar pneumonia is an acute lung inflammation caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. In a few cases, it may also be caused by hemolytic streptococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, or viruses. The lesion typically affects one lobe or most of one lobe of the lung; in severe cases, two to three lobes may be involved, with the right lower lobe being most commonly affected. It predominantly occurs in young and middle-aged adults and is more prevalent during winter and spring. Clinically, it is characterized by high fever, chills, cough, chest pain, rust-colored sputum, and signs of pulmonary consolidation. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this condition falls under categories such as "warm-heat diseases" or "lung heat with asthma and cough."
