According to traditional Chinese medicine, patients with chronic bronchitis in the elderly should strengthen constitution and nourish vital energy. Therefore, they may appropriately consume foods higher in calories and rich in vitamins, such as eel, loach, turtle, and sea vegetables like kelp, jellyfish, and nori. Additionally, foods such as lily, yam, Job’s tears, radish, water chestnut, and fresh vegetables are suitable. Those with cough and dyspnea may eat sugar-cured loofah as a vegetable dish. Those with abundant phlegm may eat water chestnut and jellyfish soup. Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and spicy, stimulating foods.
