Chinese Herbal Prescription (I)
【Formula Name】Pediatric Food Stagnation Formula I.
【Composition】Magnolia Bark 200g, Poria 100g, Fermented Medicinal Yeast 100g, Sprouted Rice 100g, Barley Malt 100g, Areca Nut 100g, Sandalwood 50g, Chicken Gizzard Membrane 60g.
【Usage】Process herbs by roasting according to quality (Sandalwood added last), grind into fine powder, store in bottle for future use. Three times daily. For children under 1 year: 2g per dose; 1–3 years: 3g per dose; 1–7 years: 5g per dose; over 7 years: 6–10g per dose.
【Indications】Food stagnation. Symptoms include poor appetite, thirst with desire to drink, bad breath, belching of sour food, abdominal distension, either dry or loose stools, hot head, hot palms and soles, restless sleep, thick greasy tongue coating, etc.
【Additions】If wind-cold present, add Perilla Leaf, Pinellia; if wind-heat, add Honeysuckle, Forsythia; if summer-damp, add Agastache, Patchouli; if fever, add Lycium Root Bark; if bad breath, add Raw Gypsum.

【Composition】Fermented Medicinal Yeast 6g, Sprouted Rice 6g, Barley Malt 6g, Charred Chicken Gizzard Membrane 6g, Charred Hawthorn 9g, Radish Seed 6g, Cyperus 3g, Citrus Peel 3g, Stir-fried Fructus Aurantii 3g, Magnolia Bark 6g, Licorice 1.5g.
【Usage】One dose daily, coarsely powdered, decocted in water, taken in 3–4 portions warm. Suitable for a 3-year-old child.
【Therapeutic Method】Eliminate food stagnation, harmonize stomach, regulate Qi, relieve pain.
【Indications】Digestive disorders, food stagnation. Symptoms include gastric fullness, pain upon pressure, poor appetite, undigested food in stool.
