Huang Qi Efficacious Formula

Huang Qi, also known as Mian Qi, Bei Qi, Jian Qi, Yu Sun, Dai Zhen, Dugeng, etc., has functions such as tonifying qi, raising yang, strengthening the defensive qi, and consolidating the exterior. In recent clinical practice, this herb has shown many new applications beyond traditional uses. Below are brief introductions for readers to try.
1. Cerebral Infarction
Raw Huang Qi 60g, Tian Ma (Gastrodia elata), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong), Tao Ren (Persicae semen), Niu Xi (Cyathula officinalis), E Zhu (Curcuma phaeocaulis), each 10g, Sheng Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis), Sheng Dan Shen (Salvia miltiorrhiza), each 20g, Gou Teng (Uncaria rhynchophylla) 15g. Add or subtract based on symptoms: add An Gong Niu Huang Wan for Yang closure; add Su He Xiang Wan for Yin closure; add Ban Xia (Pinellia ternata), Dan Nan Xing (Bolbostemma paniculatum), Shi Chang Pu (Acorus tatarinowii), Fu Ling (Poria cocos), Zhu Ru (Bamboo juice), for excessive phlegm; add Ren Shen (Panax ginseng), Fu Zi (Aconite root), for collapse syndrome; add Zuo Gui Wan for liver-kidney deficiency. One dose per day, decoct twice, mix and divide into morning and evening doses. Treated 63 cases: 17 cured (normal speech, full limb mobility); 39 effective (basic self-care), total effective rate 88.8%.
2. Cerebral Arteriosclerosis
Raw Huang Qi 25g, Fu Ling (Poria cocos), Hai Zao (Sargassum fusiforme), Fa Xia (Processed Pinellia), each 10g, Shou Wu (Polygonum multiflorum), Mai Dong (Ophiopogon japonicus), each 15g, Shui Zhi (Hirudo medicinalis) 6g, Chao Xing Ren (Roasted apricot kernel) 3g. Adjustments: add Yin Yang Huo (Epimedium), Lu Jiao Shuang (Deer antler frost), Ba Ji Tian (Morinda root), for kidney yang deficiency; add Nv Zhen Zi (Ligustrum lucidum), Shu Di (Rehmannia glutinosa), Zao Lian Cao (Eclipta prostrata), Shan Yu Rou (Cornus officinalis), Gou Qi Zi (Lycium barbarum), for kidney yin deficiency; add Zao Ren (Ziziphus jujuba seed), Ye Jiao Teng (Polygonum multiflorum vine), Sheng Mu Li (Raw oyster shell), for insomnia and restlessness; add Dan Nan Xing (Bolbostemma paniculatum), Chen Pi (Dried tangerine peel), for phlegm turbidity. One dose daily, decoct three times, divide into morning, noon, and evening doses. Treated 48 cases: 17 cured, 30 effective, 1 ineffective.
3. Acute Glomerulonephritis
North Qi 30g, steeped in boiling water like tea, one dose daily, 20 days constitute one course. Treated 27 cases: 19 cured, 6 effective.
4. Gastric Ulcer Positive for Helicobacter Pylori
Huang Qi 50g, steeped in boiling water for 30 minutes like tea, one dose daily, 30 days constitute one course. Treated 13 cases: 2 cured, 9 effective.
5. Myasthenia Gravis
Huang Qi 25g, Xian Mao (Cynomorium songaricum) 12g, Shan Zhu Yu (Cornus officinalis), Gou Qi Zi (Lycium barbarum), Shu Di (Rehmannia glutinosa), Fu Zi (Aconite root), Lu Jiao Jiao (Deer horn glue), each 10g, Dang Shen (Codonopsis pilosula) 30g, Da Zao (Jujube) 20 pieces. Adjustments: add Sang Shen Zi (Mulberry fruit), Ju Hua (Chrysanthemum flower), increase Shu Di and Gou Qi Zi for double vision, dizziness, tinnitus; add Su Geng (Perilla stem), Chen Pi (Dried tangerine peel), Fa Xia (Processed Pinellia), Gu Lou (Trichosanthes fruit), for excessive phlegm, chest tightness, breathing difficulty; add Di Long (Earthworm), Chi Shao (Red peony root), Dan Shen (Salvia miltiorrhiza), Tao Ren (Persicae semen), Hong Hua (Safflower), Niu Xi (Cyathula officinalis), for headache, eye distension, dark purple tongue or ecchymosis; add Ji Nei Jin (Chicken gizzard lining), Lai Fu Zi (Radish seed), Shen Qu (Medicated rice), for abdominal distension and poor appetite; add Du Zhong (Eucommia bark), Yi Zhi Ren (Alpinia oxyphylla seed), Sang Piao Xiao (Sangpiao xiao), for frequent nighttime urination. One dose daily, decoct three times, mix and divide into morning, noon, and evening doses.
6. Arrhythmia
Huang Qi 50g, Dang Shen (Codonopsis pilosula), Dan Shen (Salvia miltiorrhiza), each 30g, Mai Dong (Ophiopogon japonicus), Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis), Fu Zi (Aconite root), each 10g, Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra berry), Hong Hua (Safflower), Sheng Jiang (Fresh ginger), each 5g, Da Zao (Jujube) 20 pieces. Adjustments: add Cha Shu Gen (Tea tree root), Dan Nan Xing (Bolbostemma paniculatum), for premature beats during pregnancy; add Gan Song (Styrax benzoin resin), Gu Lou Pi (Trichosanthes peel), for severe chest oppression; add Long Chi (Dragon bone), Bo Zi Ren (Platycladus seed), Chen Xiang (Aquilaria wood), Zhu Zhen Fen (Pearl powder), for obvious palpitations; add Mu Xiang (Costus root), Cang Zhu (Atractylodes lancea), Jiao Shan Zha (Fried hawthorn), for poor appetite and loose stools; add Da Fu Pi (Large belly peel), Wan Nian Qing Gen (Ten-year-old green root), for limb swelling. One dose daily, treated 56 cases: 34 cured, 17 effective, 5 ineffective, total effective rate 91%.
7. Psoriasis
Huang Qi 30g, Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis), Sheng Di (Rehmannia glutinosa), Bai Ji Li (White burdock seed), each 30g. Decoct twice, divide and take in morning and evening. In one study, 94 patients were treated: 63 cured, 21 effective, total effective rate 89.36%.<Huang Qi>
