Formula 1
Composition: White Poria 50g, white chrysanthemum 80g, Uncaria 80g, light bamboo leaf 50g, rush pith 50g, amber 20g, Schisandra 10g.
Indication: Night crying.
Usage: Crush and pack into a cloth bag. Use as pillow at night, seal in plastic bag in morning. Continue use nightly. Usually cured within 2–5 days.
Formula 2
Composition: Cinnabar 3g, coptis 6g, Uncaria 3g.
Indication: Night crying.
Usage: Grind all ingredients into fine powder, mix evenly. Take 0.5g each time, sprinkle on mother’s nipple for infant to suckle, or dissolve in warm water and drink.
Formula 3
Composition: Cicada slough 3 pieces, mint 1.5g, Areca nut 3g, Citrus aurantium 3g, rush pith 10 stems.
Indication: Night crying.
Usage: One dose daily, decoct and divide into two servings. This is for infants aged 3–6 months.
Formula 3
Composition: Black mustard seed (Pharbitis seed) 7 grains.
Indication: Night crying.
Usage: Crush, mix with warm water into paste, apply to navel before bedtime, cover with gauze and secure with tape. Apply once daily.
Formula 4
Composition: Rush pith (newborn: 3g, 1–6 months: 6g, 1 year: 9g).
Indication: Night crying.
Usage: According to age group, add 100ml, 200ml, or 300ml water respectively, simmer over low heat to half volume, take the decoction as tea. One dose daily, divided into three servings. One course lasts 3 days.
Formula 5
Composition: Tian Zhu Huang, Chuan Xiong, Double Hook Vine, Cinnabar each 6–9g.
Indication: Night crying.
Usage: Wrap in cloth and hang on child’s chest over the heart area. Remove when crying stops.
Formula 6
Composition: Cinnabar 6–9g.
Indication: Night crying.
Usage: Apply to child’s palms. Remove when crying stops.
Formula 7
Composition: Guang Mu Xiang 6g, Xiao Hui Xiang 6g, Zi Su Ye 6g.?
Indication: Infant night crying and testicular swelling (hydrocele) due to cold-dampness. Symptoms include cold abdomen, refusal to breastfeed, crying mostly during late night.
Usage: Soak herbs in water for 10 minutes, then decoct for 5 minutes. Each dose decocted twice daily. One dose daily, combine two decoctions, take once in morning and once in evening.
Formula 8
Composition: Sheng Long Chi 15g, Chan Yi 3g, Gou Teng 6g, Fu Ling 10g, Lian Zi Rou 10g, Zhen Zhu Mu 15g.?
Function: Strengthen spleen, calm spirit, tranquilize heart, relieve fright.
Indication: Infant night crying, restlessness, timidity, prone to startle.
