Simple Formulas 14 for Oral Ulcers
Egg: Beat egg into a paste in a bowl. Soak green beans appropriately in a clay pot with cold water for over ten minutes, boil for about 1.5 minutes (do not overcook); at this stage, beans remain uncooked. Pour bean water over egg paste and drink. Take twice daily, morning and evening. Effective for treating oral ulcers.
Liushen Pill: Crush one pill (30 tablets) into powder, mix with 2ml cool boiled water to form a thin paste. Clean patient’s mouth before use. Then apply the Liushen paste using a thin cotton swab directly onto ulcer surface. Best applied 1–15 minutes before meals. Three times daily, plus one additional application before bedtime. Pain relief typically occurs within 5 minutes. Small ulcers heal in 1–2 days; larger ulcers heal in 5 days.
Yunnan Baiyao: Apply Yunnan Baiyao externally to the ulcer surface, twice daily. Typically heals in 2–3 days.
Whole Milk Powder: Use whole milk powder, 2–3 times daily, one spoonful each time, add a little sugar, dissolve in hot water. Best taken before bedtime. Ulcer symptoms generally disappear within 2 days.
Watermelon: Halve a watermelon, scoop out pulp, squeeze juice. Swish juice in mouth for about 2–3 minutes, then swallow. Repeat with fresh juice several times.
Vitamin C: Crush 1–2 vitamin C tablets, sprinkle onto ulcer surface, close mouth briefly, twice daily.
Famotidine: Crush 1–2 tablets into fine powder, apply with cotton swab to ulcer surface. Do not drink water for 10 minutes. Twice daily.
Liuwei Dihuang Wan: Take Liuwei Dihuang Wan orally, 2–3 times daily, 6–8g per dose.
Strong Tea: According to the Ming Dynasty pharmacopeia *Bencao Gangmu*, “Tea is bitter and cold, best at lowering fire… fire descends, clarity returns.” Research indicates tea contains tannins with astringent properties. Rinsing mouth with strong tea helps promote healing of oral ulcers.
Gentamicin: Use a sterilized cotton swab dipped in 2ml gentamicin injection (40,000 units) to gently apply to ulcer surface. Reapply after several minutes. Four times daily—after each meal and before bedtime. After rinsing mouth, apply medication. Usually heals in 2–3 days.
Tomato: Swish tomato juice in mouth for several minutes, repeat multiple times daily.
Shi Shuang: Obtain Shi Shuang from persimmon cake, dissolve in warm water or add to porridge for consumption.
Banana Leaf: Gather fresh banana leaves, lightly heat over fire, then apply directly to ulcer site. Apply 2–3 times daily.
95% Ethanol: Dip cotton swab in 95% ethanol, gently press on ulcer site and rotate slightly to remove necrotic tissue. Apply 2–3 times daily, 20–30 seconds each time. Most cases heal within 2–3 days.<口疮>
