Eating Lotus Root in Autumn to Moisturize Lungs and Nourish Blood

Lotus root belongs to the Nymphaeaceae family, with two varieties: seven-hole lotus and nine-hole lotus. Lotus root has a mild nature, rich in tannic acid, which possesses astringent and vasoconstrictive properties. Raw lotus root or its juice can assist in treating hemoptysis, hematuria, etc. Lotus root also contains abundant dietary fiber, beneficial for constipation relief and promoting elimination of harmful substances.
Wash fresh lotus root, slice into strips, squeeze juice through gauze, boil and cool slightly before drinking—this is an excellent drink for cooling blood, nourishing blood, strengthening spleen, and stimulating appetite. Lotus juice has moisturizing and calming effects; children taking exams should drink 100 ml twice daily (morning and evening). Adding salt to lotus juice helps relieve eye congestion. Boil 10 raw lotus slices in water for consumption to treat hemoptysis. Crush 500 grams raw lotus root including skin, mix with 100 grams sugar, stir into juice, drink with warm water as needed—effective for gastric ulcer bleeding.
Additionally, lotus root can be eaten raw or marinated with seasonings, crisp and refreshing. Or sliced into strips and stir-fried with green pepper and meat strips—delicious. Can also be cut into chunks and stewed with pork ribs—truly a delicious dish.
