Qi-Tonifying Medicinal Food
Qi-tonifying medicinal food uses qi-tonifying herbs combined with certain foods, prepared through cooking, possessing the function of tonifying Qi, enhancing overall organ function.
Braised Ginseng Chicken Slices
Effect: Greatly replenish primordial Qi. Suitable for Qi deficiency and physical weakness.
Ingredients: Fresh ginseng 15 grams, chicken breast 200 grams, winter bamboo shoots and cucumber each 25 grams, egg white 1 piece, refined salt, cooking wine, scallions, ginger, coriander, chicken broth, lard, sesame oil, monosodium glutamate, and cornstarch as needed.
Preparation: 1. Cut chicken breast into strips measuring 5 cm long, 1.6 cm wide, and 0.16 cm thick; wash ginseng and slice diagonally into 0.66 cm thick pieces; cut winter bamboo shoots and cucumber into slices; chop scallions and ginger into threads; cut coriander into segments. 2. Marinate chicken slices with salt and monosodium glutamate, then mix with egg white and cornstarch. 3. Heat lard in a wok until medium-hot, add chicken slices, fry until cooked, then remove and drain excess oil. 4. Mix refined salt, monosodium glutamate, chicken broth, and cooking wine into a sauce. 5. Heat oil in the wok until slightly hot, stir-fry scallion threads, ginger threads, bamboo shoots, and ginseng slices, then add cucumber slices and coriander, followed by chicken slices, pour in sauce, toss quickly, and drizzle with sesame oil before serving.
Usage: Eat as a side dish.
Taboos: Avoid during colds. Qi-Replenishing and Vitality-Strengthening Porridge
Effect: Replenish primordial Qi, strengthen the spleen and stomach. Suitable for five-zang deficiency, long-term illness with wasting, palpitations and shortness of breath, spontaneous sweating, chronic diarrhea, long-standing dysentery due to spleen deficiency, poor appetite, and Qi deficiency with edema. Applicable to all conditions involving Qi and blood deficiency.
Ginseng Lotus Seed Soup
Effect: Tonify Qi and strengthen the spleen. Suitable for post-illness weakness, Qi deficiency, poor appetite, fatigue, spontaneous sweating, and diarrhea.
Ingredients: White ginseng 10 grams, lotus seeds 10 pieces, rock sugar 30 grams.
Preparation: Place white ginseng and lotus seeds (remove hearts) in a bowl, add clean water, soak, then add rock sugar. Place the bowl in a steamer and steam over water for 1 hour.
Usage: Drink the soup and eat the lotus seeds. Ginseng can be reused up to three times. On the second day, add more lotus seeds, rock sugar, and water as needed, repeat the steaming and consumption process. By the third time, consume the ginseng along with the lotus seeds.
