Traditional Chinese Medicine Fat-Reducing Tea
In the view of traditional Chinese physicians, it is best to prepare some herbal remedies during the Spring Festival to alleviate obesity and other discomforts. The most effective herbs for eliminating obesity are Hawthorn and Fo-ti root; others include Tangerine peel and Poria, which help digest food, reduce blood pressure, lower lipids and cholesterol, and promote digestion and intestinal health.
Chinese physicians believe that
the Spring Festival brings not only weight gain but also symptoms such as bloating and indigestion. Especially during this period, many people spend long hours playing cards, leading to edematous, puffy appearance in the lower limbs. Physicians recommend drinking fat-reducing and water-excreting herbal tea or combining herbs like Cinnamon, Goji berries, and Yam with light meals for regulation.
Recommended three types of herbal fat-reducing teas:
Hawthorn and Fo-ti Tea:
Ingredients: 15 grams Hawthorn, 15 grams Fo-ti root;
Preparation: Wash and chop both ingredients, place together in a pot, add sufficient water, soak for 2 hours, then decoct for 1 hour, filter out residue, drink the liquid as tea.
Tangerine Peel Tea:
Ingredients: Some tangerine or orange peels, 5 grams tea leaves;
Preparation: Cut peels, mix with tea leaves, steep and drink immediately.
Ginger Vinegar Brown Sugar Tea:
Ingredients: 10 grams fresh ginger, 5 grams vinegar (preferably rice vinegar), 5 grams tea leaves, 5 grams brown sugar;
Preparation: Soak sliced ginger in vinegar overnight, then brew with tea leaves and boiling water; add brown sugar when drinking. This tea is especially suitable for those with food stagnation and cold stomach; honey may substitute for brown sugar.<Fat-Reducing Tea>
