Beware of Acne's Hidden Triggers

In daily life, many things unconsciously contribute to acne development. To say no to acne, besides keeping skin dry and clean, one must also avoid substances that often accompany acne. Chocolate and similar sweets have little impact on acne; in fact, such sweet treats are not direct causes. However, it cannot be denied that everyone’s skin may react differently to various foods, and sweets can indeed increase sebum secretion on the skin surface. If your skin happens to react this way to sweets, you should be cautious. Solution: If you have a habit of eating sweets but are unsure whether they cause acne, try stopping them temporarily and observe if your condition improves—this will clarify the connection. Ultimately, excessive consumption of sweets affects gastrointestinal absorption, so it's best to eat less. Toothpaste? It might seem strange, but toothpaste can actually promote acne! This is due to the irritation caused by chloride compounds in toothpaste. To clarify, chloride itself does not directly cause acne, but it irritates the skin, causing thickening. When thickened dead skin fails to shed properly, pores become clogged, leading to acne. If your acne frequently appears around the jawline, pay attention. Solution: Very simple—just use a non-chloride, non-irritating toothpaste, or wash your face after brushing. Animal fats: Many people believe oily foods lead to acne, but the real issue lies in excessive intake of animal fats increasing sebum production, stimulating hair follicles and narrowing follicular walls, thus causing sebaceous blockages. Solution: Avoid such foods—like butter, lard, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, fish—opt for more vegetables and less meat. Alcohol: Everyone knows excessive drinking harms health, but even small amounts can be problematic. Smoking and drinking impair lung function, increase sebum secretion, reduce resistance to bacteria, and when combined with lack of sleep and stress, acne worsens. Solution: Don’t fool yourself by consuming “alcohol-reducing” foods—only complete abstinence works. Constipation: Long-term constipation leads to poor intestinal health and acne. Numerous factors cause constipation, but most cases can be improved through dietary and lifestyle changes. Solution: Try drinking a glass of cold water twice daily (morning and evening) to stimulate the intestines and enhance bowel movement desire. Additionally, perform abdominal massage to aid intestinal motility. <Acne>
