Trichosanthes Porridge
[Ingredients] 20g Trichosanthes root, 100g glutinous rice.
[Preparation] Soak Trichosanthes root for 15 minutes, simmer gently for 20 minutes, strain and extract juice. Add glutinous rice and cook into porridge.
[Usage] Divide into two portions, consume warm twice daily (morning and evening).
[Effects] Clears lung heat, stops cough, generates fluids, and quenches thirst. Suitable for diabetes and lung-heat cough.
[Comment] Research indicates Trichosanthes root can lower blood glucose levels and is now widely used in treating diabetes. Trichosanthes protein can induce mid-term abortion; pregnant women must avoid use.
