Poria Rice Porridge
[Ingredients] 30 grams poria powder, 100 grams rice, 15 jujubes.
[Method] Simmer jujubes over low heat until soft, include both fruit and liquid in rice porridge, add poria powder, bring to boil again.
[Usage] Twice daily, optional addition of brown sugar.
[Effect] Strengthen spleen, tonify middle energizer, promote urination, drain dampness, calm spirit, nourish heart.
[Indications] Chronic hepatitis with spleen deficiency, diarrhea, irritability, insomnia.
[Note] Poria promotes diuresis, increases urine output and excretion of Na+ and K+. Its active component responsible for sodium excretion is poria acid. Poria enhances immunity, exhibits anti-tumor activity, has sedative and hypoglycemic effects. It relaxes smooth muscles of digestive tract, inhibits gastric acid secretion, prevents hepatocyte necrosis, and shows antibacterial action in vitro.
