Eight Autumn Moisturizing Soups

Clearing and Nourishing Soup
[Ingredients] One pig lung, 25g bitter apricot kernels, 15g lily bulbs, six jujubes.
[Benefits] Lily bulbs are a key herb for clearing heat, calming the mind, moistening lungs, stopping cough, tonifying the middle energizer, and treating bleeding from lungs and airways. Combined with bitter apricot kernels, it removes phlegm, moistens lungs, dispels wind, warms the body, and treats shortness of breath. Pig lung nourishes respiratory and lung organs. This soup suits those with colds, dry-heat cough, bronchial issues, or dry weather seeking hydration.
[Preparation] After purchasing pig lung, insert a tube into the trachea and fill with water to flush out blood and impurities. Place the cleaned lung in a clay pot with all ingredients and simmer for 3–4 hours. Slice the lung, add seasoning, serve as a dish, and drink the soup separately.
Cooling Blood and Stopping Bleeding Soup
[Ingredients] 75g Sophora flower buds, one pig intestine.
[Benefits] Treats hemorrhoids, bloody stools, and rectal bleeding.
[Preparation] Wash the pig intestine thoroughly, rub with salt, rinse again. Fill the intestine with Sophora flower buds, tie both ends with string, place in a clay pot, add five bowls of water, simmer slowly for three hours. Drink the soup and eat the intestine, optionally adding seasoning.
Clear Phlegm and Eliminate Accumulation Soup
[Ingredients] 100g dragon's beard flower, 250g pork leg, 100g figs, 25g each southern and northern apricot kernels.
[Benefits] Removes phlegm, clears heat, reduces fire, expels phlegm, and regulates qi.
[Preparation] Wash all ingredients. Cut figs open. Add eight bowls of water, simmer down to three bowls—enough for three people. Season after cooking.
Thyroid Protection Soup
[Ingredients] 25g kelp, 50g sea tangle, 50g raw rehmannia root, 500g pig trotter meat, 1/4 piece of tangerine peel.
[Benefits] Treats thyroid dysfunction, alleviates irritability and heat, quenches thirst, and generates fluids.
[Preparation] Wash kelp and sea tangle. Cut longer pieces into 2–3 segments. Wash raw rehmannia root. Combine all five ingredients and simmer for two hours. Can also boil water first before adding ingredients. Add seasoning after cooking.
Warming and Nourishing Hair-Strengthening Soup
[Ingredients] 100g black beans, 200g lean meat or 250g meat ribs.
[Benefits] Helps darken gray hair and strengthen hair.
[Preparation] Marinate meat or ribs with a little salt overnight. Add herbs and eight bowls of water, simmer for two hours until beans are soft and tender.
Dispersing Lumps Soup
[Ingredients] 100g elephant foot vine, 100g dragon’s pearl fruit (also known as dragon bead), 250g lean meat.
[Benefits] Dispels phlegm-fire nodules, treats pharyngitis.
[Preparation] Use fresh elephant foot vine (dry version in small quantity available at herbal shops). Use fresh dragon’s pearl fruit. Wash both herbs and meat, add five bowls of water, simmer slowly until one bowl remains. Consume.
Lowering Blood Pressure and Improving Vision Soup
[Ingredients] 1–2 abalone, 200g lean meat, 2 slices of ginger.
[Benefits] Lowers blood pressure, improves vision, nourishes yin, treats tuberculosis-related night sweats and fever, reduces fire, calms liver heat, and replenishes fluids.
[Preparation] Abalone usually uses dried or canned varieties (fresh abalone requires shelling). Wash, slice, use lean meat whole, add five bowls of water with ginger, simmer for 4–5 hours until abalone becomes sticky.
Autumn Dryness Citrus Peel Soup
[Ingredients] 100–200g sand pear peel, 150g lean pork, 15g scorched white atractylodes, 10g hemp seed.
[Benefits] For weak intestines, poor stomach qi, diarrhea after eating cold or frozen foods, constipation after consuming fried or mildly nourishing foods, accompanied by bloating and discomfort—indicating need for moistening.
[Preparation] Wash citrus peel, add to lean pork and herbs, add five bowls of water, stew for three hours.
