Six Characters for Preventing Illness in Autumn and Winter
During autumn and winter, temperatures drop significantly, and indoor-outdoor temperature differences increase, raising the risk of catching colds. To stay healthy, try the "Six Characters":
Wash: Wash face with cold water in the morning; soak feet in hot water before bedtime, once each day.
Rinse: Rinse mouth with diluted salt water twice daily (morning and evening) to kill oral bacteria.
Run: Go for a slow 10-minute jog every morning, until slight perspiration occurs.
Rub: Place both hands in front of the chest, rub palms together 20–30 times, until palms feel warm.
Pat: Extend arms fully, alternately pat the chest 20 times with both palms.
Drink: Before bedtime, mix 30 grams of red sugar (or white sugar) and 3 grams of fresh ginger paste with boiling water, then drink as tea.
