★ Sitting harms the heart. Prolonged sitting slows blood circulation, leading to weakened cardiac function. Especially in middle-aged and elderly individuals with conditions like arteriosclerosis, sluggish circulation from sitting easily triggers myocardial infarction and cerebral thrombosis.
★ Sitting damages muscles. Lack of movement causes poor blood flow, leading to muscle relaxation, reduced elasticity, leg swelling, fatigue, and in severe cases, muscle stiffness, pain, numbness, and even atrophy.

★ Damages tendons and bones. Maintaining a fixed posture for long periods puts continuous strain on cervical, shoulder, back, and lumbar vertebrae, causing stiffness and pain. Poor posture (e.g., constant forward spinal curvature) may lead to kyphosis and osteophyte formation. Prolonged sitting also places sustained weight on the pelvis and sacroiliac joints, impairing blood flow in the abdomen and lower limbs, potentially causing constipation, hemorrhoids, leg numbness, and varicose veins.
★ Sitting harms the stomach. Lack of full-body movement weakens gastrointestinal motility and reduces digestive fluid secretion. Over time, this leads to loss of appetite, indigestion, and bloating in the upper abdomen.
