TCM Dietary Therapy for a Healthy Complexion
Pale Facial Complexion:
Dietary Method: Honey-glazed Peanut and Jujube
Principle: Jujubes tonify qi, peanut skins tonify blood, peanut kernels moisturize, and honey tonifies qi. Combined, they work synergistically to improve complexion.
Method: Soak jujubes and peanuts in warm water, then boil them in a pot with sufficient water until soft. Add honey before serving.
Dull or Darkened Facial Complexion:
Dietary Method: Chestnut and Chinese Cabbage Stew
Principle: Dull skin results from kidney deficiency and yin depletion. Chestnuts strengthen spleen and nourish kidneys, while Chinese cabbage nourishes yin and moistens dryness. Together, they brighten and clarify complexion.
Method: Remove shells from raw chestnuts, cut in half, and stew in duck broth until tender. Then add 200 grams of Chinese cabbage strips, a little salt, and monosodium glutamate.
Rough or Coarse Facial Complexion:
Dietary Method: Bamboo Shoots Braised with Sea Cucumber
Principle: Rough skin stems from insufficient yin-blood and internal heat. Sea cucumber nourishes yin and enriches blood, while bamboo shoots clear internal heat. Together, they smooth and beautify skin.
Method: Cut sea cucumber into long strips, combine with fresh or rehydrated bamboo shoots, add lean meat, and stew until cooked. Season with salt, monosodium glutamate, sugar, and wine before eating.
