Blood-nourishing medicinal chickens
1. Angelica-Astragalus Steamed Chicken: One hen, 100 g processed astragalus, 20 g angelica, seasonings as needed. Wrap angelica and astragalus in cloth. Clean hen, remove feathers and internal organs. Blanch in boiling water, rinse with cold water. Place wrapped herbs inside hen. Put in a bowl, arrange scallions and ginger. 3. Polygonum-Braised Chicken: 30 g polygonum multiflorum, 10 jujubes, 30 g ginger, one hen, seasonings as needed. Clean hen, remove feathers and internal organs. Wrap eight herbs in cloth. Clean hen, remove feathers and internal organs. Wash tripe. Rehydrate and clean fish tripe. Wash pork and bones, crush large bones. Place all in pot with water, boil over high heat, skim foam. Add ginger, jujubes, scallions, wine, pepper, fennel, cinnamon, and sandalwood, simmer until tender. Discard herb bag, slice meat and tripe, return to pot, boil, season with salt and MSG. Consume 2–3 times weekly. Nourishes qi and blood—ideal for dizziness, weakness, lower back and knee pain, impotence due to frequent sexual activity.
6. Longan-Angelica Chicken: 30 g longan, 30 g angelica, one hen. Clean hen, remove feathers and internal organs, blanch briefly, cut into chunks. Simmer over low heat until half-cooked, add longan and angelica, continue cooking until done. Consume 2–3 times weekly.
