How to Supplement After Miscarriage
Autumn is peak season for miscarriages. Many women regard medical abortions or other artificial abortions as simple procedures, returning to work soon afterward without proper care. Gynecologists warn this harms the body’s recovery. After a miscarriage, attention should be paid to dietary regulation. Here are dietary principles for post-miscarriage recovery. To promote recovery after artificial abortion, dietary adjustments should follow these points:
(1) Protein is a crucial component of antibodies; insufficient intake reduces bodily resistance. Within two weeks after abortion, protein intake should be 1.5–2 grams per kilogram of body weight daily, totaling about 100–150 grams. Thus, consume more chicken, lean pork, eggs, dairy, soybeans, and soy products.
(2) After surgical abortion, the body is often weak and prone to sweating. Therefore, fluid replenishment should be done in small, frequent amounts to reduce water loss. Sweating excretes water-soluble vitamins, especially vitamin C, B1, and B2. Hence, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. This also helps prevent constipation.
(3) On a normal diet basis, moderately limit fat intake. Fat intake should be controlled at about 80 grams per day during the first week. Avoid spicy foods such as chili, alcohol, vinegar, pepper, and ginger, as these stimulate genital congestion. Also avoid cold-natured foods like crab, freshwater snails, and mussels.
Post-miscarriage dietary nourishment is vital for women’s health. Abortion causes physical damage, blood loss, and psychological stress and physical pain during the process, leaving the body weakened. Some may even develop anemia. Therefore, appropriate nourishment is essential. The recommended nourishment period is about two weeks. For those with weak constitutions, poor health, or heavy blood loss, the nourishment period may be extended accordingly.
