Autumn Tonification for Kidney Health Is the Right Time

🔑 Keywords: Pharmacological Diet
Winter and autumn tonification is a tradition passed down for thousands of years in China. Experts note that individualized tonification during winter and autumn has unique characteristics.
Because different people experience varying degrees of depletion annually, and because individuals differ in strength and weakness, their constitutions vary in terms of cold/heat, yin/yang, and deficiency/excess. Moreover, people differ by age, gender, health status, and whether they have illness—giving everyone the same tonic could backfire for many. Thus, identifying each person’s specific traits, accurately determining whether they are yang-deficient or yin-deficient, cold or hot constitution, and deciding whether to tonify the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, or kidneys—this is the essence of TCM’s syndrome differentiation and targeted tonification.
After entering autumn, the weather grows colder, and the body loses more heat. To resist the cold, the body must generate more heat to maintain normal temperature. The kidney yang promotes warmth, movement, excitement, and transformation in the body. Therefore, this period is the optimal time for kidney tonification.
