Decoct in 100 ml water, filter out residue, mix with 30 ml of melted donkey-hide gelatin, let cool slightly, then take two fresh eggs, remove egg whites, beat yolks into the medicine, and consume all at once before bedtime each evening.
Those who frequently suffer from insomnia should maintain a diet that is light and nourishing, such as lilies, lotus seeds, and yam, often combined with rice, glutinous rice, and coix seed to make porridge. Avoid drinking strong tea, coffee, and other beverages that stimulate the central nervous system.
Psychological well-being is crucial for insomnia patients. Maintain a broad-minded attitude, avoid worries and anxiety. Pay attention to balancing work and rest, avoid prolonged sitting or working on computers. After one or two hours of work, stand up, stretch, or do office exercises. In daily life, moderate sexual activity and preserve heart and kidney health. Avoid eating right before sleep. Some people have a habit of drinking milk before bed—this can be scheduled one hour before sleep. After drinking, rest briefly, clear your mind, and enter sleep in a calm and peaceful state.
○ Chief Physician Li Jian, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine
