Intervention Therapy Opens New Paths for Cancer Treatment

🔑 Keywords: Other · Medical Common Sense
It is reported that intervention therapy is a cutting-edge discipline in medicine. In treating malignant tumors, researchers have long valued exploring and applying traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) with anticancer properties via intervention methods. In recent years, various TCM formulations suitable for interventional therapy of malignant tumors have been developed. Briefly introduced below:
Oily Formulations: Such as Brucea javanica oil and Curcuma oil, which exhibit excellent drug-loading capacity and vascular retention/embolic effects;
Powder or Gel Formulations: Currently used for arterial embolization are Baiji powder and Baiji gel;
TCM Microcapsules/Microspheres: These can achieve localized, sustained release in target arteries, maintaining high local drug concentration. For example, Huachansu microspheres were prepared using emulsion polymerization. Huachansu not only has anticancer effects but also strengthens the heart, promotes diuresis, reduces inflammation and pain, increases white blood cell count, and enhances immune function. Clinical studies confirm that combining interventions with formulas like Buhuan Ruanjian Tang, Sanjin Powder, Ganfule, and Su’erkang Capsules improves tumor treatment outcomes. Known anticancer TCMs include cantharidin, huachansu, brucea javanica oil, baiji, half-branch lotus, allicin, purple flowered violet, and white flower snake tongue grass—all with low toxicity, capable of enhancing immunity, protecting liver and kidneys, and simultaneously eliminating pathogens while reinforcing the body. Using new formulations via interventional methods enhances efficacy and reduces side effects. Thus, this integrative approach combining strengths of Chinese and Western medicine offers a promising new avenue for cancer treatment with broad clinical potential.
