TCM Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

🔑 Keywords: Other · TCM Knowledge
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a common gynecological illness, referring to inflammation of female pelvic reproductive organs, including endometritis, pelvic peritonitis, pelvic connective tissue inflammation, and salpingo-oophoritis. TCM also offers effective methods for treating PID.
Traditional TCM classifies PID into five types, combining syndrome differentiation with Western medicine treatment to achieve both symptomatic and root-cause resolution.
1. Heat-Toxin Type: high fever, chills, headache, lower abdominal pain, profuse vaginal discharge resembling pus, foul-smelling, yellow urine, constipation, red tongue, yellow coating, slippery or rapid pulse. Remedy: Chrysanthemum Suppository: external use, one tablet per dose, rectal administration, up to 12 times daily.
2. Damp-Heat Type: low-grade fever, burning sensation in lower abdomen, dry mouth without desire to drink, abundant yellow, thick vaginal discharge, or mixed red-yellow discharge, red tongue with greasy yellow coating, slippery rapid pulse. Remedy: Golden Chicken Capsule: four capsules per dose, three times daily, taken with warm water.
3. Damp-Heat Stagnation Type: distending pain in lower abdomen, bitter taste, dry mouth, yellow thick discharge, turbid urine, constipation, dark red tongue with yellow or white coating, string-like or rapid pulse. Remedy: Female Treasure Granules: 20g per dose, twice daily, dissolved in boiling water.
4. Blood Stasis Obstruction Type: persistent lower abdominal pain, aggravated by pressure, irregular menstruation, heavy flow with clots, purple-dark tongue with ecchymoses or petechiae, thin coating, deep string-like or sluggish pulse. Remedy: Women’s Menstrual Pain Pills: 9g per dose, twice daily, taken with warm water.
5. Conception Channel and Governor Vessel Cold Deficiency Type: cold lower abdominal pain, prefers warmth and pressure, abundant white, thin vaginal discharge, cold limbs, pale tongue, thin white coating, deep fine pulse.
