New Advances in Research on Mechanisms of Compound Softened Tortoise Shell Tablets for Anti-Fibrosis

🔑 Keywords: Other · Medical Common Sense
A breakthrough in treating liver diseases with Chinese herbal tablets has emerged. Experimental and clinical studies show that Compound Softened Tortoise Shell Tablets exert significant anti-fibrotic effects through multiple pathways and targets. Recently, Dr. Zhao Jingmin, head of the Military Infectious Diseases Pathology Group and director of the Department of Pathology at PLA 302 Hospital, and doctoral supervisor, announced new progress in their research titled “Mechanisms of Compound Softened Tortoise Shell Tablets in Anti-Liver Fibrosis.”
In recent years, anti-organ fibrosis has been a hotspot in domestic and international medical research. However, due to the complex, multi-factorial, multi-pathway, and recurrent nature of fibrosis development, progress in developing anti-fibrotic drugs and therapies has been slow. Approved by the state, the Compound Softened Tortoise Shell Tablets developed by 302 Hospital are a Chinese herbal tablet designed for anti-liver fibrosis and early liver cirrhosis. Since 2001, Zhao Jingmin led a research team in establishing multiple liver fibrosis animal models, using two internationally recognized scoring systems for liver fibrosis. They performed semi-quantitative comparisons between different dosage groups of Compound Softened Tortoise Shell Tablets and control groups. Results showed significantly reduced liver fibrosis scores at 3 months, 6 months post-treatment, and 3 and 6 months after discontinuation. This indicates that the compound possesses clear anti-fibrotic effects, and the degree of efficacy correlates with dosage.
The research project “Study on Mechanisms of Compound Softened Tortoise Shell Tablets in Preventing Multi-Organ Fibrosis” is a key National Natural Science Foundation-funded project jointly undertaken by Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and PLA 302 Hospital.
