Origin of the Term "Xinglin"

Dong Feng was a renowned physician in the Han Dynasty. It is said that when treating patients at his home, he did not charge fees; instead, he asked patients to plant several apricot trees around his residence after recovery—five trees for serious illnesses, one tree for minor ailments.
After several years, there were more than ten apricot trees surrounding Dong Feng's home. From afar, the forest appeared dense and lush, endless and vibrant. In spring, the blossoms were abundant and beautiful; in summer, the shade was thick and cool. The apricot fruits hung heavy and golden, dazzling to behold and uplifting to the spirit. Afterward, whenever people saw an apricot grove, they associated it with the noble character and exceptional medical skills of Master Dong Feng, thus referring to the Chinese medicine community as "Xinglin." Mentioning "Xinglin" immediately evokes the practice of medicine. Throughout history, phrases like "Xinglin Spring Full" and "Xinglin Warm Spring" have become common expressions used by patients to praise physicians for their high moral integrity, selfless dedication, and superb medical expertise.
