Researchers Explore Whether Garlic Truly Benefits Health
A research team composed of horticultural and health experts conducted a four-year study on garlic, aiming to identify its medicinal components and confirm whether it truly protects the heart and prevents cancer as commonly believed.
Dr. Brian Thomas from the British Horticultural Research Organization believes sulfur compounds in garlic have proven benefits in preventing human cardiovascular diseases and cancer. He said, "Once we identify the components in garlic that protect the heart and prevent cancer, we will maximize their development and utilization." Another research group funded by the EU has initiated a series of studies on the health benefits of garlic. According to "Ceda Medical Online," researchers who believe garlic is beneficial will strive to isolate sulfur-containing compounds from garlic and clone their genes, cultivating new garlic strains to provide better health protection for humans.
