(2) Epidemic Toxin Accumulation in Intestine: Bright red or bloody watery stools, severe abdominal pain, or high fever, thirst, headache, restlessness, red-purple tongue, dry yellow coating, slippery rapid pulse.
Treatment Method: Clear heat, cool blood, detoxify, resolve turbidity.
Formula: Whitehead Elder 10g, Coptis 10g, Phellodendron 10g, Cortex Fraxini 10g, Brucea javanica 5g, Scutellaria 10g, Honeysuckle 12g, Sophora 10g, Moutan 10g, Dragon’s Blood 3g.
Patent Medicine: Shenxi Dan.
(3) Intense Heat-Toxin: Purulent bloody stools with strong odor, abdominal pain, abdominal masses, painful on palpation, chills, high fever, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, slippery rapid or string-rapid pulse.
Treatment Method: Clear heat, detoxify, activate blood, drain pus.
Formula: Honeysuckle 10g, Red Peony 10g, Angelica 10g, Coptis 10g, Scutellaria 10g, Sandalwood 10g, Gardenia 10g, Licorice 6g, Bufei 10g, Houttuynia 12g, Coix 10g.

(4) Deficient-Cold Dysentery: Chronic diarrhea, loose stools with white mucus, foul smell, or uncontrollable bowel movements, or vague abdominal pain, poor appetite, fatigue, pale tongue with thin white coating, deep fine pulse.
Treatment Method: Warm and supplement spleen-kidney, consolidate and arrest leakage.
