Herbal Food Therapy for Gout
1. Lily Soup: 20–30 grams of lilies boiled into tea or steamed and eaten daily, long-term use possible. Effect: Moistens lungs, stops cough, calms the spirit. Lilies contain colchicine and other compounds effective in preventing and treating gouty arthritis.
2. Lily and Plantain Seed Honey Drink: 20 grams lily, 30 grams plantain seed boiled into about 500 ml water, add one spoon honey, mix well, consume daily. Effect: Tonifies lungs, boosts Qi, strengthens spleen, promotes diuresis. Plantain seeds aid uric acid excretion, helping prevent gout attacks.
3. Red Bean and Coix Rice Porridge: 50 grams red beans, 50 grams coix seed boiled into porridge daily. Effect: Strengthens spleen and stomach, promotes diuresis and dampness removal. Helps eliminate uric acid.
4. Smilax and Rice Porridge: 30 grams smilax root, 50 grams rice. First boil smilax into decoction, then add rice to cook into porridge, daily use. Function: Clears heat and toxins, removes dampness and unblocks meridians. Smilax increases uric acid excretion.
5. Mountain Gourd and Honey: 5 grams mountain gourd root boiled into water, add one spoon honey, mix well, consume daily. Function: Detoxifies, resolves phlegm, disperses nodules, reduces swelling. Contains colchicine, suitable for acute gout during damp-heat phase.
6. Peach Kernel Porridge: 15 grams peach kernels, 150 grams rice. Crush peach kernels into paste, extract juice, strain, add rice to cook porridge daily. Function: Activates blood, removes stasis, unblocks meridians, relieves pain. Suitable for gout caused by blood stasis and phlegm obstruction.
7. Modified Radish Soup: 250 grams radish, 30 grams perilla seed. Wash and slice radish, stir-fry with vegetable oil, add perilla seed and 500 ml water, simmer until cooked, add salt to taste. Function: Calms heart, nourishes spirit, promotes diuresis and dampness removal. Regular consumption helps prevent gout attacks.

9. Yam and Garlic Chive Porridge: 100 grams raw yam, 10 grams garlic chives, 50 grams rice, 30 grams pinellia, 30 grams astragalus,适量 sugar. 10. White Mustard, Lotus Seed, and Yam Cake: 5 grams white mustard powder, 100 grams lotus seed powder, 200 grams fresh yam, 5 grams tangerine peel threads, 200 grams red date flesh. Peel and slice yam, mash red dates, mix with lotus seed powder, white mustard powder, tangerine peel threads, add water, blend well, steam into cake for breakfast, 50–100 grams each time. Function: Boosts Qi, transforms phlegm, unblocks meridians. Suitable for gout due to spleen Qi deficiency.
