Four Rules for Elderly Health Preservation in Autumn
Today features mostly sunny weather, with maximum temperatures rising to 29°C. Many elderly people experience fatigue and exhaustion during autumn. Experts therefore advise that to stay physically strong, seniors must observe the following “Four Rules”:
1. Avoid laziness in disposition: Increase outdoor activities such as jogging, walking, tai chi, dancing, or exercises. At home, do more household chores and keep moving—avoid prolonged sitting.
2. Avoid excessive fatigue: Arrange exercise and household tasks reasonably, ensuring balanced work and rest so that bodily tissues and organs receive proper rest.
3. Avoid overeating: Overindulgence increases weight and leads to obesity. Obesity causes the “four highs”—high blood sugar, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and high cholesterol.
4. Avoid anger when provoked: Emotional fluctuations in the elderly can disrupt normal physiological functions of organs, easily triggering gastrointestinal ulcers, hypertension, coronary heart disease, and other illnesses. Thus, when faced with unpleasant events, one should control emotions and remain calm.
