Eye Care Tips for Computer Users

Rest your eyes. After every two hours of computer use, take a 10–15 minute break. Looking into the distance outdoors—even briefly—can provide rest, as long as you avoid close-up visual focus.
Apply warm compresses to the eyes or gently massage around the orbital bones. Cover both eyes with a warm towel or handkerchief (eyes closed), once or twice daily, for about 10–15 minutes each session. Alternatively, gently press the thumb around the bony areas surrounding the eye sockets—from the inner upper side, moving outward along the bone, then down toward the nose.
Avoid reflections caused by outdoor light or indoor lighting on the screen. Consider installing a special micro-filter screen or using protective eyewear. Clean the screen with computer-specific lens wipes when dusty to improve visibility.
Place documents to be typed near the screen, as close as possible, to minimize neck and eye movement and reduce shifts in attention. Increase font size and line spacing on-screen for easier reading and reduced eye strain.
Frequent blinking helps moisten the eyes and prevents dryness. If discomfort occurs, consult an ophthalmologist—do not self-medicate with eye drops.
Keep a minimum distance of 60 cm from a 14-inch screen; for a 15-inch screen, maintain at least 70 cm. For larger screens, increase the distance proportionally.
Adjust keyboard and chair height for comfort. Position the keyboard so forearms are parallel to the ground while typing. The ideal computer chair should have back support but no armrests, adjustable height, and a slightly forward-tilted seat to keep the spine straight and thighs angled slightly downward.
Ensure at least one meter of space behind the computer and wall, allowing the eyes to expand freely during rest periods.
