Dietary Remedies for Bad Breath

· Agastache Rice Porridge: 15g agastache (30g fresh), 50g glutinous rice. Wash agastache (30g fresh), place in an aluminum pot (must use aluminum pot), add water, decoct for 5 minutes, strain and collect juice. Wash 50g glutinous rice, add water, bring to boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat until porridge is ready. Add agastache juice, cook for another 1–2 minutes. Serve. Has effects of dispersing summer heat and warding off foul odors.
· Mint Rice Porridge: 30g fresh mint leaves (15g dry), 50g glutinous rice. Wash fresh mint (15g dry), add water, simmer, strain and collect juice. Wash 50g glutinous rice, add water, cook until rice is soft, then add mint juice, cook for 1–2 minutes. Serve. Helps clear throat, promotes fresh breath.
· Lychee Rice Porridge: 5–7 dried lychees (shells removed), 50g glutinous rice or regular rice. Combine with water and cook into thin porridge. Consume at dinner time, eat for 3–5 consecutive days as one course. Has warming yang, boosting qi, generating body fluids, and nourishing blood effects. Suitable for bad breath and elderly morning diarrhea. Elderly with yin deficiency and internal heat should avoid.
· Fresh Reed Rhizome Rice Porridge: 30g fresh reed rhizome, 50g glutinous rice. Wash reed rhizome, boil with water to extract juice. Wash 50g glutinous rice, cook until nearly done, then add reed juice, continue cooking until rice is fully soft. Consume on an empty stomach in the morning. Has clearing heat, relieving irritability, eliminating foul odors. Not recommended for long-term consumption.
