Dietary Therapy for "Five-O’Clock Diarrhea"
"Five-o’clock diarrhea" refers to morning diarrhea, commonly seen in middle-aged and elderly individuals. TCM attributes this condition primarily to spleen-kidney yang deficiency. In addition to keeping the abdomen warm and avoiding raw/cold foods, proper dietary therapy can yield satisfactory results.
• Bone-Fortifying Herb Wine: Use 60g bone-fortifying herb soaked in 500ml baijiu (white liquor). After about one week, drink one small cup nightly. Alternatively, use 10g bone-fortifying herb, 1 pair of pig kidneys (washed and diced), simmer in water for one hour, season and divide into 2–3 servings, consume every other day for several times—can show certain efficacy.
• Vinegar-soaked Ginger Tea: Wash ginger, slice thinly, soak in rice vinegar for 24 hours. When using, take 3 slices of ginger with适量 rock sugar, steep in boiling water as tea. Regular consumption helps relieve diarrhea.
