Zinc is an essential trace element indispensable to the human body, playing a crucial role in promoting children’s growth and development. Adults require only 13–15 mg of zinc daily, but deficiency leads to reduced appetite, rough skin, delayed development, and anemia. Long-term zinc deficiency can also cause decreased sexual function or even infertility.
Supplementing zinc primarily comes through diet. Foods rich in zinc include oysters, malt, followed by lean meat, fish, milk, walnuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, purple seaweed, and animal liver. Simply eating more of these foods regularly ensures adequate zinc intake. Even if already deficient, zinc levels can be replenished quickly.
