Seafood Feast for a Refreshing Mood
Seafood Feast for a Refreshing Mood
Work stress, interpersonal issues, academic competition, relationship conflicts—these troubles plague modern minds. How can one find peace amidst chaos?
From a spiritual perspective, vegetarian or raw food diets can purify body and mind. From a medical standpoint, increasing seafood intake may help regulate mood.
A recent study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry found that seafood is rich in unsaturated fatty acids—omega-3 fatty acids—which help prevent mental illnesses.
U.S. researchers analyzed global psychiatric disease rates and dietary habits using epidemiological methods. Results showed that regions with higher seafood consumption had lower risks of bipolar disorder. To effectively prevent bipolar disorder, each person should consume at least 50 pounds of seafood annually.
Notably, no link was found between seafood intake and prevention of schizophrenia, possibly due to differing etiologies between schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
According to psychiatric classification, symptoms most commonly exhibited by bipolar patients include:
※ Sleeping less but feeling no fatigue.
※ Others perceive the individual as overly confident, proud, or excessively optimistic.
※ Hurried actions, reckless behavior.
※ Excessive talking, frequent opinions.
※ Quick decisions on important matters, unwillingness to heed advice.
Treatment for bipolar disorder must combine medication and psychotherapy, supported by family patience and encouragement to achieve therapeutic goals. Based on this study, managing emotions through diet control is worth trying.
However, seafood has high cholesterol content. When enjoying seafood dishes, remember to cook using steaming, boiling, low oil, and low salt methods to safely obtain omega-3 fatty acids.
