Eating Grape Skins May Prevent Cancer
Eating grape skins may prevent cancer
Recent research by American experts found that grape skins contain a highly effective anticancer substance. They urge everyone: “Eat grapes without spitting out the skins.”
Researchers extracted hundreds of natural compounds from edible plants and conducted repeated tests, finally identifying and confirming this substance’s potent anticancer activity. In experiments, mice with skin cancer were fed this substance for 18 weeks, then compared with untreated counterparts. Results showed tumor cells decreased by 68%–98% in treated mice. Generally, cancer development occurs in three stages: first, DNA damage in normal cells activates cancer-related genes; second, accelerated cell division enters carcinogenesis; third, tumors worsen and begin metastasizing. Experts say this substance inhibits cancer at all three stages effectively. This compound exists in varying amounts in over 70 plants including peanuts and grapes, especially abundant in grape skins and red wine. It has no toxic side effects in humans and could be developed into an excellent natural cancer preventive.
