Dressing Guidelines
First, avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes. Tight garments can compress muscles and blood vessels, impairing blood circulation, hindering breathing and movement, and causing various problems. They have poor breathability; in summer and autumn, when people sweat more, tight clothing may lead to skin conditions such as eczema or groin fungus due to blocked perspiration. Teenagers in their growth and development phase should especially avoid tight clothes. The elderly are also affected similarly—tight clothing restricts their mobility. Young men and women often wear tight clothes for aesthetic reasons, to highlight body curves. However, they must limit the duration of wearing them: put them on when going out, but take them off at home and switch to looser attire to relieve skin fatigue caused by tight clothing.
Second, pay attention to changing clothes when sweating. Carelessness can easily lead to illness. Traditional Chinese medicine holds that "changing clothes after heavy sweating is beneficial, or washing immediately is also good." "Wet clothes should not be worn for long, as they may cause sores, wind-stagnation (bi), and urinary or bowel dysfunction." After heavy sweating, clothes lose their ability to ward off wind, and open pores become vulnerable to wind invasion, leading to joint coldness. Therefore, it's best to change into clean clothes after sweating. If possible, wiping the body with warm water before changing is even better. Some people, while working, remove only half their clothes after sweating, leaving the other half on—this is extremely harmful. The *Three Yuan Can Zan Yan Shou Shu* warns: "Sweating heavily and removing clothes partially leads to partial wind stroke and hemiplegia," illustrating this principle clearly.
Third, avoid clothing materials that irritate the skin. Most modern fabrics are synthetic fibers. Some people are sensitive to synthetics, experiencing allergic reactions. In such cases, switching to cotton products—especially underwear and innerwear—is recommended. Generally, if no allergy occurs, any fabric is acceptable. But if allergies exist, careful attention is essential.
