Some Fruits Should Not Be Eaten Cold

2. Those who often suffer from constipation can eat more peaches, bananas, oranges, etc., which have mild laxative effects.
3. Many people like to store fruits in the refrigerator before eating, although chilled fruits taste better, excessively cold fruits can stimulate intestinal motility and cause indigestion, especially for those with cold stomachs or mild gastritis.
Traditional Chinese Medicine: Fruits Are Divided into Cold and Hot
Dr. Wang Zhiming from Beijing No.3 Armed Police Hospital explained that according to Traditional Chinese Medicine's "body constitution theory," human constitutions are categorized as cold, hot, or neutral. Similarly, fruits are also classified as cold or hot. Consuming inappropriate fruits or excessive amounts may negatively affect health.
TCM Recommendations:
1. For individuals with deficient cold constitution—such as feeling cold, being sensitive to cold, sweating little, prone to diarrhea—should consume warm or hot-natured fruits. Examples include longan, lychee, walnut meat, waxberry, peach, orange, cherry, apricot, pomegranate, coconut, jujube, chestnut, plum, etc.
2. For individuals with real heat constitution (frequently red face, oral ulcers, dry mouth, excessive sweating, dry tongue, constipation, preference for cold drinks, frequent irritability, easily angered), they should consume more cool-natured fruits such as cantaloupe, pear, watermelon, banana, pomelo, loquat, mango, sugarcane, sweet melon, persimmon, mulberry, orange, raw lotus root, water chestnut, kiwi, etc., to assist in clearing heat and reducing fire.
3. Individuals with neutral constitution have more choices, but the most suitable options are pineapple and sugarcane.
