Chili Peppers Can Prevent Heart Disease
Chili Peppers Can Prevent Heart Disease
Whenever spicy foods are mentioned, chili peppers immediately come to mind. Like other spicy foods, chili peppers not only promote blood circulation but also enhance vascular elasticity, reducing the risk of vascular hardening and helping prevent cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, chili peppers are rich in vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties, strengthens immunity, and delays aging. However, chili peppers are truly "hot enough to fly"—if you can't tolerate them, moderation is key!
Spicy Foods Only Suitable for Cold-constitution Individuals
Although spicy foods offer many benefits, traditional Chinese medicine holds that whether spicing is beneficial depends on individual constitution. Spicy foods are suitable only for those with a cold constitution. As the saying goes, "Cold should be treated with heat, deficiency with tonification." People with cold constitutions often experience poor blood circulation, leading to symptoms such as cold hands and feet, weakness in limbs, low blood pressure, and dizziness. Therefore, consuming more warming, spicy foods helps stimulate blood flow and alleviate cold-related symptoms.
Conversely, individuals with dry heat, yin deficiency, damp-heat, excessive sweating, or pregnant women should absolutely avoid frequent consumption of spicy foods, as this may exacerbate internal heat, resulting in symptoms like dry mouth, flushed face, red ears, fever, and potentially worse consequences.
Even those with a cold constitution should eat in moderation according to their own physical condition, because overconsumption can still generate excessive heat, leading to excessive sweating, dehydration, sore throat, oral ulcers, gum swelling, and counterproductive results. Thus, occasional indulgence in spicy hot pot or adding just a few drops of chili oil as seasoning is acceptable—but daily consumption is not advisable.
Inhibiting and Killing Vaginal Trichomonas
Women, besides dealing with menstrual irregularities, sometimes suffer from vaginal infections such as trichomoniasis and candidiasis. Dr. Yu Kangming points out that certain components in spicy foods have been scientifically verified to inhibit and kill these pathogens, helping reduce excessive vaginal discharge caused by infection.
