Health Preservation: My Own Way to Exercise and Stay Healthy

With the growing popularity of national fitness activities, more and more people are engaging in sports. What kind of fitness routine suits each individual best? Tian Chuan, an expert from Chengdu Sports University, believes that apart from considering factors such as age, occupation, and living environment, incorporating personal personality traits can lead to even better results.
Tian Chuan holds that mental health is also influenced by physical activity. Psychological research shows different sports affect the mind differently. In real life, some people lack normal psychological adjustment and adaptability, or exhibit obvious personality or emotional deficiencies. Targeted, appropriate physical activity can correct these negative traits and improve mental and emotional well-being.
Tian Chuan lists six types of people and the sports they should choose:
1. Tense Type: Some people lack mental resilience and should participate in competitive sports like football, basketball, and volleyball. These sports involve rapidly changing situations and intense competition, requiring calmness and composure to gain advantage. Regular exposure to such high-pressure environments reduces anxiety and panic, benefiting work and study.
2. Timid Type: Some people are naturally shy, easily blushing, and reserved. They should engage in swimming, ice skating, boxing, gymnastics (single or double bars), and vaulting. These sports require overcoming timidity through courage and fearlessness, helping conquer difficulties and obstacles. After consistent practice, their confidence grows, and they become more composed and natural in social interactions.
3. Introverted Type: Some people are introverted, isolated, socially awkward, and lack competitiveness. They should choose team sports like football, basketball, volleyball, relay races, and tug-of-war. Consistent participation in group activities boosts vitality and teamwork skills, gradually transforming their personality.
4. Suspicious Type: Some people are overly suspicious, distrustful of others, and indecisive. They should choose sports like table tennis, tennis, badminton, high jump, long jump, and fencing. These require clear thinking, quick wit, accurate judgment, and decisive action. Long-term engagement helps break out of a suspicious mindset.
5. Vanity Type: Some people have strong vanity and enjoy showing off. They should try challenging or complex sports like diving or marathon running. Alternatively, playing chess, table tennis, or badminton against opponents stronger than themselves can constantly remind them not to be arrogant.
6. Impatient Type: Some people act impulsively and lack composure. They should choose quiet, solitary activities like playing chess, practicing Tai Chi, doing qigong exercises, long-distance walking, or swimming. These activities are mostly static and individual, avoiding excessive emotional fluctuations, helping regulate nervous system function and enhance self-control.
