Deficient type relates to spleen and kidney deficiency; excess type is mainly due to dampness. The formula uses Rehmannia glutinosa, white peony root, and Astragalus membranaceus to nourish yin, soothe liver, and strengthen spleen; mugwort warms the middle and eliminates dampness.
