Nourishing Yin and Blood—Yan Shou Weng Tou Chun

🔑 Keywords: Pharmaceutical Wine · Yan Shou Weng Tou Chun<br>[Drug Composition] 30g asparagus root, 30g psuedostellaria, 30g cistanche, 30g licorice powder, 30g achyranthes root, 30g eucommia, 15g processed aconite, 30g Sichuan pepper; these eight ingredients ground into powder for later use. 500g epimedium (stir-fried with 500g antelope fat), 500g safflower, 30g white peony root, 60g raw rehmannia, 120g atractylodes, 60g prepared rehmannia, 120g white poria, 30g chrysanthemum flower, 120g five-leaf ginseng, 120g lycium root bark, 120g angelica sinensis; these twelve ingredients cut open, packed in silk bags for later use. 15g cardamom, 15g white cardamom, 15g agarwood, 15g frankincense; these four ingredients ground into powder for later use<br>[Function and Indications] Warm kidney and strengthen yang, nourish yin and blood, regulate qi and strengthen spleen, strengthen tendons and bones. Suitable for lower back and knee cold pain, weakness, impotence, cold semen, infertility after marriage, frequent urination, irregular menstruation, clear leukorrhea, general fatigue, low spirits, poor appetite, abdominal distension, cold stomach pain caused by kidney yang deficiency and qi-blood insufficiency.<br>[Dosage and Administration] Drink one or two cups daily according to individual condition.<br>[Preparation Method] Take 2 dou of glutinous rice, wash clean, soak for 24 hours, rinse again with water, steam into porridge, cool down. Add 2 kg of fine yeast and the above eight powdered herbs into the porridge, mix well.<br>Place the silk bag containing epimedium and the other twelve herbs at the bottom of the jar, then pour the yeast-and-herb-mixed porridge into the jar, press down firmly to secure the bag.<br>Add 20 liters of good wine, seal the jar tightly for seven days, press to extract clear alcohol, transfer to wine jars. Add the four powdered herbs (cardamom, etc.), re-seal the jar, heat over water for 1.5 hours, remove, bury in soil for three days, then ready for use.<br>[Caution] Contraindicated for those with yin deficiency and internal heat, or naturally hyperactive yang constitution. Also note: aconite contains aconitine, which is highly toxic.
