[Drug Composition] Rhubarb (cut, raw) one liang, cornus (two liang), dry ginger (roasted) three and a half liang, astragalus, angelica (without root head), angelica (skin removed), licorice (roasted), white atractylodes, zanthoxylum (eyes and closed seeds removed, stir-fried until sweat appears), aconite (roasted, skin and umbilicus removed), achyranthes, ligusticum, fine cinnamon (without buds and leaves), each two liang, angelica (cut, dried), cinnamon (skin removed) two and a half liang, kudzu root, gentiana (without buds and soil), aconite (roasted, skin and umbilicus removed), each two liang
[Function and Indications] Treats blood stagnation and various types of arthralgia, severe cases involving limb paralysis, wind-damp-cold arthralgia, generalized swelling and pain, loss of sensation. Also treats wind-deficiency, phlegm accumulation, hemiplegia, weak legs, inability to raise hands above head, lower abdominal cramping, rib-side spasm, hidden mass under the ribs, retained fluid in the chest, nightmares of sorrow and distress, confusion, forgetfulness caused by wind-deficiency invading the five zang organs; or chronic lower back pain from prolonged sitting, deafness, sudden dizziness and heaviness of head; or generalized swelling and pain, poor appetite, aversion to cold, fullness of phlegm in the chest, obstruction in the epigastrium, and postpartum disorders due to lingering wind and cold in women.
[Dosage and Administration] Start with three heaping gōng, gradually increase until slight intoxication, take three times daily.
[Preparation Method] Chop herbs into sizes like sesame seeds. Young and strong individuals need not boil; the frail elderly may lightly simmer. Place in a double-layered silk bag, soak in one dou of clear wine. In spring and summer, soak for five days; in autumn and winter, for seven days.
