Acupuncture Treatment for Primary Dysmenorrhea
Primary dysmenorrhea refers to menstrual pain without obvious organic lesions in reproductive organs, also known as functional dysmenorrhea. It typically occurs shortly after menarche and is common among unmarried or nulliparous women, often improving or disappearing after childbirth. This condition belongs to the TCM categories of “Dysmenorrhea” and “Abdominal Pain During Menstruation.” The treatment principle focuses on unblocking and regulating qi and blood, but due to differing etiologies and presentations (deficiency vs. excess), treatment methods vary accordingly.
