Massaging Shenshu Points to Protect Kidney Function
I have diabetes. Two years later, a urine test revealed trace protein, indicating kidney damage. So I adopted the following measures to protect my kidneys:
Avoid plant proteins; even high-quality proteins should be limited. Subsequent tests showed urine protein levels remained within normal range.
Adjust medications under doctor’s guidance.
Switch antihypertensives from “Hypotensive Zero” to enalapril or Lotensin. Change antidiabetic drugs from Daimeikang to Tangshikeping.
Consistently massage, tap, and apply heat to the Shenshu points (BL23), increasing renal blood flow and improving kidney function. Every night before sleep, sit on the edge of the bed, hang feet down, loosen clothing, hold breath, touch tongue to upper palate, gaze upward, and rub both Shenshu points with both hands for 10–15 minutes. When walking, clench fists loosely and tap both Shenshu points 30–50 times while walking.
Through these methods, I increased renal blood flow, improved renal circulation, accelerated excretion of waste products, and protected kidney function.
